Emory's Surgery

Emory's surgery went great!!!! We are resting in a semi-private room at Children's and the Dr. said that after 48 hours of laying flat that she will get to go home on Friday or Saturday. Surgery took about an hour once they finally got her under sedation and I was glad that it didn't take very long.

It was kind of crazy this morning. My mom, my sister, Vickie and her son, my dad, my step-mom, Daniel's mom and dad, and our Children's Pastor from church were all here to keep us preoccupied will she was in surgery. Haven't got to look at her incision yet but she is a big bandage on her back. Surgery was supposed to have started sometime around 7:30, they took her back to the operating room at 7:30 but it took a while to get her under sedation so it was around 8:20 when they notified us that they had started the surgery. And 9:20 when they finished up. She hasn't taken a lot to eat, just a few sips of Pedialyte, just enough to wet her whistle. So hopefully in a few hours she will want to eat. They had given her mophine when she woke up in recovery so we figure she is sleeping off the drugs.

I will keep you updated in the next several days. We have internet in our room, so that it awesome. They didn't have this when we are here last Frebruary.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers today, we really appreciate everybody that loves Emory.

Yea!!!! I'm so glad that she came through with flying colors. Now we'll focus our prayers on a speedy recovery and the surgery's success. My prayers will be the next time we see you guys, Braedon and Emory will be running around plotting the destruction of the world.... ;) Love you! It was so great to see you this weekend. Now you and Mary need to make a trip out here to Nashvegas. (btw, we made it home around 2:30. Not planning on flying with my kid any time soon.)

Yes, I was so glad that she pulled through with no problems. We are just know having troubles getting her to eat. Since we can't pick her up and hold her and between all of the pain medicine from the surgery and then after the surgery, she is stilling sleeping.
It was so good to see you guys too. I would love to come to Nashvegas. You got home at 2:30 AM??? OMG I don't think I would travel either.
Thanks for the continous prayers

Sorry for the confusion. We got in at 2:30 PM. Was hoping to catch the tail end of his usual naptime, but he had other plans. He got up at 5:45 yesterday morning, only had a 45 min nap all day and sang in his crib until 9. Is it any wonder that he slept until 10 this morning?

I'm glad she is doing so much better!!! Yay for food and being almost there on the no back thing! Just out of curiousity, how are they keeping her off her back?

OH well, I am glad that it was in the PM instead of the AM, but bad that he didn't want to go down for his nap. I am glad that you guys made it home okay.

She didn't have to stay off of her back like we thought that she was going to have too. The Dr. just said that she has to lay flat for 48 hours. So that was much better than we thought. He said that she could even roll from side to side if she wanted to but she had to stay flat. I think that that was the hardest part for me because we really couldn't hold her when she was fussing and we always hold her when she gets fussy to calm her down.
